“Every year, more than half a million people take part in Veganuary in the UK alone. But, regardless of their eating habits or lifestyles, people are increasingly looking for vegan products. So, we decided to create more inclusive ranges that cater to our customers,” said Adam Georgiou, Brand Manager for Own Label Beers, Wines and Spirits at SPAR UK. “We have a fantastic range of high-quality, affordable wines. We’re confident there’s something for every wine drinker – whether they are vegan, flexitarian or a meat eater.”
Wildflower Pinot Noir
This Romanian Pinot Noir is smooth and chocolatey. It’s light enough to drink all year round, but rich enough to stand up to hearty cuisine—such as roast duck. Wildflower Pinot Noir is multi-award winning: in 2022, it won a silver medal at the IWSC; in 2021, it was awarded a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge and a bronze medal at Pinot Noir Masters in 2021, among others.
Champagne
SPAR’s Marquis Belrive Champagne represents the best of the region. The wine is aromatic and elegant, with notes of acacia blossoms and grapefruit. It pairs well with salty snacks, such as crisps. This Champagne is multi-award winning; in 2021 and 2022, the wine won a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge. It was also awarded a gold medal at the Quality Drink Awards in 2019.
Rios de los Andes Rose
The Rios de los Andes is smooth and fruity. The palate bursts with strawberry and raspberry flavours, while the finish is clean and refreshing. It pairs well with light summer dishes, such as pan-fried salmon or vegetarian Asian salads. In 2022, this Argentinean Rose won a silver medal from Decanter and bronze medals from both the International Wine and Spirit Competition and the International Wine Challenge.
South African Reserve Chenin Blanc
SPAR’s South African Chenin Blanc is smooth and buttery; it’s full of ripe fruit flavours: peach, pear, and nectarine. This full-bodied white pairs perfectly with rich, creamy dishes like cacio e pepe or fried chicken. In 2022, Decanter awarded this wine a bronze medal. It also won a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2019.
SPAR Classic Chilean Sauvignon Blanc
SPAR’s Classic Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is deliciously crisp. It has notes of white peach and lemon rind—and a zippy finish. It pairs well with strong flavours, such as Greek salad with feta and kalamata olives. In 2022, this wine won bronze medals from Decanter and the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Rios de los Andes Malbec Reserve
The Rios de los Andes Reserve Malbec is rich and toasty. The palate pops with ripe red berry and pepper flavours. The reserve is kept in barrel longer than the standard Malbec, which gives the wine more complex, earthy notes; it pairs well with lightly flavoured meat—such as barbequed chicken. In 2022, this wine won bronze medals from Decanter, International Wine Challenge, and the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
