SPAR Announces Frozen Fortune Winners

Frozen Fortune Winners Announced!

In January SPAR's Frozen Fortune campaign offered shoppers across Great Britain the chance to win free products and money off vouchers through a web-based gamification app. There was also a chance for four lucky winners to win the grand prize of £10,000!

With more than 120,000 players during the campaign, there were 1.2 million plays of the daily Ice Breaker game, and a further 325,000 plays of the Fortune Maker game which customers unlocked after playing the Ice Breaker three times.

During March the four grand prize winners from across Great Britain have been presented with their big cheques and have shared how they'll be spending their Frozen Fortune!

Tracy Dixon, a university lecturer from Oldham

Tracy was delighted as she collected her grand prize cheque at SPAR Poets Corner just around the corner from where she works at the University of Salford. She was greeted and congratulated at the SPAR store by owner Mark Cleary and Marketing Manager Philippa Harrington from SPAR North of England distributor James Hall & Co. Ltd.

“I am going to spend it on doing the garden up at home for the summer so hopefully we can enjoy some great weather in a nice garden environment.” - Tracy

Antonia Sharkey, a mobile hairdresser from Helston

Antonia asked her partner to go into SPAR Helston before her to make sure it was real when she arrived at the store to collect her grand prize cheque. She was greeted and congratulated at the SPAR by Store Manager Jane Rowntree and Alexander Allen, Area Manager for SPAR’s distributor for the South West of England Appleby Westward.

As well as a holiday, Antonia says the winnings are going to have her flocking to the sheep sales to support her daughter’s hobby.

“My daughter is a veterinary nurse who has rare breed sheep so I think I will also buy her a couple to add to her flock!” - Antonia

Abby McNicol, a retail assistant from Johnstone

Abby was still in disbelief as she collected her grand prize cheque at SPAR Paisley Road in Renfrew where she was greeted and congratulated by store owner Saleem Sadiq and Lori Watson from SPAR Scotland distributor CJ Lang & Son.

She was left speechless when she took the call at home and says she will use the cash to fund some home improvements as well as take her mum away on a dream holiday.

"I would also like to take my mum on a big holiday to Japan or Korea. She has always wanted to go but has been unable to afford it so I would like to take her.” - Abby

Connie Robinson, a retired grandmother from Lincolnshire

Connie Robinson was happy to help a friend and collect it on their behalf after they were unable to make the presentation at SPAR New Waltham. Collecting the cheque, Connie met with Store Manager Robyn Gobey who was thrilled to learn the money would be going to a good home.

Connie, a regular shopper at SPAR, was familiar with the Frozen Fortune campaign and was enthusiastic about its value to customers:

“At the beginning of the new year when everybody is feeling a bit down and costs are going up, I think Frozen Fortune has been very useful. This is what people are looking for to be honest.” - Connie
