How to make Chilli Con Carne

- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tbsps vegetable oil
- 500g ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 800g diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 tbsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 400g red kidney beans
- 1 tsp dried oregano leaves
- SPAR brand tortilla chips

- In a pot, warm the vegetable oil over low heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté for 1 minute. Add garlic and stir.
- Then, add chili powder, cumin, oregano and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until spices combine well.
- Add beef and turn the heat to high. Stir frequently until mostly browned.
- Add tomatoes, cocoa powder, sweet corn, and a cup of water.
- Change the heat to medium.
- Cover with lid, cook for thirty minutes, or until it has thickened.
- Add beans. Turn up the heat to medium high. Cook for 10 minutes while stirring until the beans are well heated and the sauce has thickened.
Notes: Serve with cornbread, rice, pasta and/or SPAR brand tortilla chips
